Quality Engineer

WORK OBJECTIVE

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that product quality meets all customer expectations, and implement timely and effective actions to resolve non-conformance issues. The quality Engineer will employ proven quality control techniques to identify, document, track and resolve issues affecting product quality.

  • Determine problem resolution activities. DMAIC and 8 Discipline (8D)
  • Develop Quality Control procedures, Work Instructions, Visual Aids and processes
  • Analyze process capability and variation using statistical methods. Develop process controls (PFMEA, SPC, Design of Experiments)
  • Develop Control Plans to address quality issues causing product defects, deviations, and rework issues
  • Investigate defective parts using proven problem solving methods (Root Cause Analysis, 5 Why etc.), and drive corrective actions
  • Assist with internal audits as necessary
  • Identify opportunities for process and product improvements and assist in Continuous Improvement activities (Kaizen)
  • Track Quality Control Key Process Indicators, analyze trends and develop reports to communicate to management
  • Interface with internal and external customers to address quality control issues

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Three years in a Quality Engineer role, 5 Years preferred
  • Preferred Certifications: Six Sigma Green Belt, Six Sigma Black Belt, or Certified Quality Engineer

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • B.S Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production and assembly processes
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office programs – Excel, Word, Project
  • Skilled in the use of common inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.
  • Knowledge of Metal Injection Molding, CNC machined parts.
  • Statistical software – Minitab or Equivalent
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawing and geometrical tolerances
  • Ability to perform basic geometrical and mathematical calculations
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints
  • Ability to use a gauge and calibrate
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort usually involving some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 20 pounds). Usually involves some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, walking or standing.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Tasks are regularly performed inside without potential for exposure to adverse conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, fumes and/or poor ventilation, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature, and noise extremes, machinery and/or moving vehicles, vibrations, electric currents, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents gases or chemicals, oils and other cutting fluids, violence and/or disease, or pathogenic substances.

SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Some tasks require manual dexterity, in addition to visual and hearing acuity. Some tasks may involve identifying and distinguishing colors.
